In the alleyway, he is kidnapped and tied by two masked criminals. Newt, who the film named after, walks out from the set to go to the party. Just like the original film's intro, the camera pulls out and we see that all the animated characters are actors. The story starts with the scene of the computer animated feature film titled "Newt 2" which is a highly anticipated sequel to the huge hit film by Maroon Cartoon Studios. It's still a detective mystery, although it is now sharing more tropes with neo-noir films such as Seven and Lethal Weapon than the private detective flick like The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown since it set in the start of 21st century. There's also a rise of anime like Ghibli, Sailor Moon and Pokemon reaching the North American market getting all the children's attention while no one watches Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny's bargain bin VHS. The film centers around the conflict between the old traditional 2D cartoon characters and the computer generated new characters with the films like Toy Story and Shrek becoming big hits on the theater making billions of dollars. Set in the same universe where the cartoons exist along side of humans, but instead of 1940s the golden age of American cartoons, it's now 2001 when the American animations rapidly switched from the 2D cartoons to CGI, similar to how The Artist depicted the transition period from the silent films to the talkies. It's not necessarily 'Roger Rabbit' film since it doesn't star Roger Rabbit, so it should be titled 'Who Framed Hansel and Gretel?"
